APRIL 2000

Special thanks for the hard work and dedication of Renee Winn, Director of the Mrs. South Carolina International Pageant, Wings for Children can breath a little easier.

The contribution from this years pageant at Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort will allow the printing of our brochures. Up until now, we have run them on the copy machine and folded each one by hand.

We also want to thank those special ‘angels’ who worked hard and contributed money to Wings for Children and Angel Flight:

Teresa P. Taylor, Lexington, S. C.
Dianne Galloway, Camden, S. C.
Tara L. Fender, Simpsonville, S. C.
Penny L. Pettit, Greenville, S. C.
Leigh Rice, Slater, S. C.
Robin D. Sprague, Williamston, S. C.

There are far too many others that worked behind the scene that helped support us too. Our sincere thanks to everyone at the Mrs. South Carolina International Pageant 2000. We are really proud of the contribution and the support of the Pageant.

FEBRUARY 26, 2000

LITCHFIELD BEACH. . .During the Year 2000 Mrs. South Carolina International Pageant held this evening at the Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort, Wings for Children was presented a contribution of $1,000.

This presentation signifies the commitment of this pageant to make changes in the lives of abused, neglected, missing and exploited children in South Carolina. The contestants have served countless hours in community service. The sponsors that support the pageant recognize the importance of families, the health, well-being and safety of children.

These funds also will help expand the Angel Flight project originated over six years ago.

Wings for Children was founded in 1978 and is a non-profit corporation organized to help abused, neglected and abandoned children.

Angel Flight began with a few flights to transport abused and neglected children and has continued to expand by helping sick and terminally ill children. This effort was assisted several years ago by the Senior Tour and continues with their support. The pageant’s help furthers the ability to transport these needy children and their families. Angel Flight receives referrals from many places, including the Shriners Hospital in Greenville.

Neither Wings for Children nor Angel Flight has ever charged for any of their services, nor is anyone in the organization receiving compensation or reimbursement for expenses.

Karole Jensen, President of Wings for Children/Angel Flight “appreciates the hard work and efforts of Renee Winn, the Executive Director of the 2000 Mrs. South Carolina International Pageant, as well as the participants in this evenings competition to raise this much needed money.” She continued, “. . .this pageant supports children throughout the year by holding bake sales, auctions, and through a booth at the Dickens Show in Myrtle Beach each December.”
